It is for train travel that Les Arcs really comes into its own. The Eurostar operated snow train will take you straight from London St Pancras to Bourg St Maurice, from where you can take the funicular straight up to Arc 1600. It almost couldn’t be easier.

The overnight service leaves London each Friday and arrives into Bourg St Maurice first thing the following morning, so if you take this you will have almost a full day skiing when everyone else is still making their way to the resort. If you value your sleep though and prefer to travel by day, there is also a day time service that arrives in Bourg St Maurice later that afternoon. Eurostar operates a snow train service.

If you’d rather avoid travelling at the weekend, there are daily services to Bourg St Maurice. This will involve changing in Paris from Gare du Nord to Paris Austerlitz, for the direct TGV service that will get you to Bourg later that afternoon. Tickets and timetables are available from Rail Europe.
