Mountain Restaurants

There are four mountain restaurants locally and with the Diamant pass you can ski on to find others at adjacent piste and lift-linked resorts. Le Benetton (+33 (0)4 79 38 92 61) on the Col de la Lézette piste is particularly good with rapid service and a large terrace for sunny days. Le Panoramique (+33 (0)4 79 38 94 73) at the summit of Bisanne is also good with a variety of eateries and spectacular 360 degree views.

Restaurants in Town

There are about 20 places to eat in Les Saisies, almost all serving up traditional Savoyard favourites, normally using local ingredients, particularly the omnipresent locally produced Beaufort cheese. Typical in every respect is the homely La Taverne Savoyarde (av. des Jeux Olympiques; +33(0)4 79 38 25 18) and La Cachette Gourmande (Centre commercial le Dahu, Place Berthod; +33(0)4 79 31 72 28) is another good choice. Les Arcades (473 av. des Jeux Olympiques; +33(0)4 79 38 90 65) offers more of the same, with fondue a speciality, from its neat wood lined restaurant bedecked with regional memorabilia. But if you just want a quick snack delivered at an affordable price, it has to be pizza, brought to you by Speed'Za (442 av. des Jeux Olympiques; +33(0)4 79 39 96 92).

Grocery Shops

Les Saisies has a strong French foody ethos so rest assured this is a great place to stay if you want your morning baguette and your evening tartiflette. The local Beaufort cheese is a big part of life in Les Saisies from farms to restaurants, and there’s a major production facility and shop in the village, the Fromagerie des Saisies Guiguet (55 place Jean berthed; +33(0)4 79 38 90 39). Other good choices for local food include Le Gourmet Savoyard (av. des Jeux Olympiques; +33(0)4 79 38 98 98) and La Montagnette (477 av. des Jeux Olympiques; +33(0)4 79 38 91 95

For regular food shopping there are several mini supermarkets including Supérette Vival (35 rue des Près; +33(0)4 79 37 56 80), an 8 a Huit Mini Market (+33(0)4 79 38 91 60) and several outlets of Supérette Proxi Services (+33(0)4 79 39 94 56). There’s also a larger Intermarché supermarket at nearby Villard-sur-Doron (+33(0)4 79 38 35 79).

There’s no market in Les Saisies itself but if you take your back pack when you’re out skiing you’ll find one in Crest-Voland all day long on both Friday and Sunday or on Monday morning in Notre Dame de Bellecombe.
