  • The accommodation was really very good, it was clean, good beds and bedding, plenty of cutlery, plates, saucepans etc. it had a very big living area and two of the double rooms were en suite. There was also a small washing starter pack which had washing liquid and five dishwasher tablets. The nay two issues I really had was that the middle room without the en suite was like a sauna. We turned off all of the heaters in the apartment on day one but that never stopped the middle room which never had a window from heating up like a furnace. The second issue I had was that there was no heated boot stand for our ski boots. There is a locker room with approximately 15 lockers with a heater in the main locker room. Not really that great if I am honest. The staff were fantastic and you can order bread and croissants at the reception the night before for what is very little money. You are not allowed to wear ski boots in the lifts or corridors nor are you allowed them in the rooms. There is a bus outside of the apartment block which comes every five minutes if you cannot be bothered to walk 300m to the lift. This comes every five minutes till 2100hrs and then it’s every 15mins. It goes between Val Claret, Le Lac and Le Breviere.

    All in all I loved the apartment, the staff and the location. Skiing was excellent and no queues. Get your skis from alpine resorts online for the best price

  • Some good and some bad. We did this trip as a last minute trip, and so ended with an apartment that was bigger (and more expensive than we really needed. The accommodation was spacious, but would have been cramped if full. The situation was reasonable- either a 10 minute walk to the lift or a 10 minute wait for a free shuttle bus. The choice is yours and depends on how energetic you are feeling.
    The two bad elements were - the hot water failed twice in the week we were there - corrected within a few hours, but annoying in the morning. Finally the issue that really irritated me was the extra charge to use the room safe! There was no extra charge for the ski locker, or the television or the coffee maker, but for some reason there was an extra charge for the safe. I have been to many hotels and apartments all round the world and this is the first time that an extra charge has been incurred to use a feature that was already installed in the room. The cost was tiny compared with the cost of the apartment - so its sole purpose seemed to be to irritate, and it succeeded!

  • The apartment at Pierre & Vacances was excellent with plenty of space (although we did opt for a superior version). We were 5 adults and with 3 bedrooms we were very comfortable. With 2 shower rooms and a bathroom with shower over the bath there were never any queues in the morning.

    While situated at the far end of the village from most of the ski lifts there is a short cut (via an elevator) around the back of the apartments to the shops and the nearest ski lift and also ski access down to the other lifts.

    The apartment was very warm and in fact we had to turn off most of the radiators. It was very well equipped with 16 sets of crockery and cutlery which meant that the dishwasher only had to go on once a day. There were plenty of pots, pans & frying pans and a wide variety of cooking utensils. (Only thing missing was a potato peeler!!). The little welcome cleaning pack with cloths, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets was much appreciated and avoided having to buy excessive quantities that would have been thrown away at the end of the week.

    Another thing that we found very useful was the bakery service offered by reception including baguette, croissants, pain chocolate, etc and not at excessive prices. If ordered the previous day it was ready to collect by 8.00 in the morning just in time for breakfast.

    There were 4 hours of free wifi (per email address) for the week which was adequate for checking emails, weather forecast, Facebook, etc. If you require more time on line then there is a charge for this.

    The only negative comment is the lack of comfortable seating in the lounge area where there was just a sofa bed which seated 3 (4 at a squeeze). A second sofa or comfy chairs would have been helpful.

    All in all a great stay and a fantastic holiday.

If you fancy a little bit of French cuisine in the morning then why not think about ordering croissants, pain au chocolat etc from reception. These will be delivered to the residence each morning for you and need to be paid for locally.

Located on the main street as you enter Tignes Val Claret from Tignes Le Lac, on the left. A short walk from the lifts and the resorts amenities.

Directions

On entry to Tignes continue past Lavachet, through Le Lac, following signs to Val Claret, through the tunnel round the lake to Val Claret. Continue straight on at the roundabout, heading towards the lifts and the apartments are on the left a short distance after the roundabout.

Long stay (Saturday to Saturday): Check in opens at 5pm until the close of reception (see reception hours)

Short stays (2-6 days + mid-week arrival): Check in is available from 4pm until the close of reception (check reception hours)

It is the guest's responsibility to arrive between the hours of check-in. In the case of late arrival, guests must notify the property reception on the telephone number provided, otherwise access to the apartment cannot be guaranteed.

Security deposit of €300 to be paid at check-in.

On arrival, if there are any issues with cleanliness these should be reported to the Residence Manager immediately.
