La Plagne On Snow

If you haven’t had enough of the snow by the time the lifts shut then there are plenty more opportunities to get out on the snow after you get the ski gear off.

La Plagne’s bobsleigh run was built for the 1992 Winter Olympics and may be used for more Olympic adventures is the 2018 winter games go to Annecy. The 1.5km long track has 19 bends and a maximum gradient of 14.5% and you can hurtle down it yourself at speed of up to 120kn/hr. Most people opt to go down on the bob-raft - a self-steering craft that holds four people and descends at a speed of around 80km/h. At around €40 per person, it could be the fastest €160 a family of four has ever spent! The one man mono-bob goes at up to 90kph and costs over €100 per person, over 16s only. For the full experience up to three passengers can ride behind a professional driver on a proper bobsleigh at up to 120kph, this also costs a little over €100 per person. If you fancy going downhill but not quite so fast then try air rafting as a fun alternative to sledging, it is pretty much like riding a lilo down the slopes!

Quad-biking is available year round in Belle Plagne with El Pro, but it gets particularly exciting when the snow falls! Skid around in the white stuff and see if you can have as much fun as you do strapped to those planks.

Another great snowy attraction for all of the family is Grotto de Glace. At the top of the Plagne Bellecôte glacier, the grotto is accessible to skies and pedestrians. Venture inside the ice world of the glacier, it is free to under 11’s and €14 for the rest of the family. Every year as the glacier moves and changes new sculptures are created and there are many animals and other fun creations to spot.

La Plagne Off Snow

There is also an indoor climbing centre to keep the whole family entertained and if anyone still has energy to burn then there is a gym at the sports centre too.

If you would like your off snow activities to be a little more relaxing then why not check out the spa at the Hotel Araucaria, sit back and relax in the steam room or sauna or choose from their extensive treatment menu. There are also plenty of shops to check out in La Plagne, spilt between the 10 satellite villages are over 200 shops. Although most are either food or sports shops there is also a good mix of souvenir shops available the both Plagne centre and Plagne Bellecôte have covered malls, perfect for spending a couple of hours when the weather is looking bleak.
